Background
In the construction industry, project planning and budgeting can be complex and time-consuming. Engineers and managers often spend hours creating project estimates and tracking progress across various departments, such as engineering, plumbing, and electrical. Many of these tasks are done manually, which can lead to delays, missed information, and extra work.
The construction company wanted a solution that would make their work faster and more accurate. They needed a way to automatically generate estimates, collect daily progress updates from each department, and manage all their projects in one place.
Objective
The goal was to design a solution that simplifies and automates backend operations involved in managing construction projects.
Automate daily updates from each division head through scheduled voice calls and convert those spoken updates into structured text using advanced speech-to-text technology.
Automatically log all updates into a centralized project journal, which captures the call summary, and a separate section for blockers if reported.
Allow project managers to keep track of different projects and departments in one platform.
Build a clear project roadmap that allows assigning labor by division, setting expected work hours, and tracking labor costs.
Provide a dashboard with insights to track project progress, budget consumption, and potential blockers even at the division level.
Solution
We collaborated closely with the client to develop a comprehensive Construction Site Management Dashboard tailored to their unique project requirements and workflows. The platform allows users to create detailed project roadmaps by defining timelines, selecting construction divisions, and assigning labor hours along with associated costs.
A core feature of the platform is the integration of automated daily call updates. At scheduled times, field personnel receive prompts to provide progress reports via voice, which are then transcribed into text and logged automatically. These updates include hours worked, division-wise progress, and any blockers faced on site, ensuring real-time visibility into project status without manual data entry.
With this platform in place, the construction firm now manages its projects with greater clarity, speed, and control. Project managers can monitor real-time progress, avoid delays, and make data-driven decisions with confidence.
